Our Vision
Note from the designer
There’s a fire in all of us. The fire that comes from fervent inspiration, the fiery passion that adorns the heart. It can be the source of intense enthusiasm and devotion. It is this fire, within which, is nestled at the heart of this endeavour. Every stroke, every stitch, every design, every detail is intended to spark that flame inside you that reminds you how precious this life is. To be lived only for what matters the most to you.
Inspired by the intricacy, meditativeness and the impact of Indian arts and crafts, ‘Nikyta’ was born. Every time I would see a Gond painting, Thangka art form, Chamba Rumaal embroidery, local art and craft symbols or the free-flowing strokes of kalamkari, I would get transported to a surreal, vibrant inner world of imagination where there are no rules and it’s an abstract land. That’s when I sit down at my workstation and churn out images of personal experiences through the language of our traditional visual storytelling art forms to create one-of-a-kind artworks that then translate into clothing.
Clothing has always been a canvas of human expression for centuries, it brings art closer to people and in turn can impact the well-being of the viewer and the wearer. I have always wanted to bridge the gap between functional clothing and wearable art.
At Nikyta’s workroom, we dream of sharing the product of our labour to the world. The beauty in the depth and simplicity of the Indian arts and crafts is what truly runs us.
